In my 05 Civic, I had one installed and that is where they installed it as well.
I like it because you didn't even notice it. We shall find out soon.
I think the buzz from the AC might be a little problem which is why they install it up by the side mirror so it doesn't pick up on any other interference.

let me know how the sound quality is. I've had issues positioning the mic anywhere near the dashboard.. too much disturbance. I now mount my mic right next to the sunroof crank which I found to be the best spot thus far.
