This morning, after filling car with gas, as I turn to get on the main road again my horn activated with out me clicking the actuators on the steering wheel. It stayed on until I pulled the steering towards me (it has some play). With the pull what I was doing was separating the spring carbon tip from the brass ring on the steering wheel. When I got home tonight I removed the steering wheel and out came the carbon tip with the small spring. The connection of the wire broke inside the plastic casing. I put the steering wheel back and now I don't have a working horn. I have a M-Technic I steering wheel (PO switched from Air Bag steering wheel to the M-Technic one).
I noticed - while the steering wheel was out - that the plastic casing where the carbon tip slides through is riveted to the column. Has anyone changed this piece successfully?
Any ideas how I can resolve this to have a working horn again?
Thanks in advance.
