When I had my m20b27 in my car I swapped my alternator that used bushings in favor of one without bushings similar to what you posted. It was a direct swap and the mounting points were the same. I can only imagine this would hold true in your case as well.
As for FCP, they are great as long as you stick to name brand parts. I've seen complaints about their off brand stuff.Leave a comment:

yes sir, i've done my research. I'm not a expert but i have done some research.
I know that most of those options did come but they didn't offer the larger audio systems or gps and that jazz. There isn't a problem with running this much of a larger alternator either. It doesn't effect the engine or mpg's in a bad way. I was just wondering about the mounting mainly.Leave a comment:

Well its not a massive electrical draw.
It's not bad to upgrade to a larger alternator if i'm buying new. If i'm gonna spend the same amount of money especially. 10 more amps can offer more efficiency. The 80 amp would be great for the stock car. But with more modern upgrades like audio systems, heated seats, power windows etc. It provides a stronger less faint signal to power the engine and on board luxuries.
Plus the 90A comes with no bushings which i hear is way better.Leave a comment:

FCP is an honorable company but all cores are subject to verification that they are rebuildable and if you want to return a core thats different than what you are buying you need to get that in writing in advance to CYA.Leave a comment:

Alternator upgrade
My 318i is in need of an alternator. I've looked at rebuilding just to learn more, but it seems that buying a new one (rmfd) is most practical. Now i've searched on here quite a bit but here are my concerns.
The refurbished 80A alternator that i know fits my car:

The refurbished 90A which i'd like to upgrade to:

Now all seems fine except for mounting. The 90A, which seems to have been developed in 86' doesn't have bushings, which i like, but will it still fit right in? I've looked up the diagram's on RealOEM.com but it shows up with bushings on both alternator's. I just wanna know if it will fit. If i have to purchase some adapters that'll be fine.
One last thing, To anyone who has done business with this company please let me know if it went well. I would love to get my core charge back but do not know how it'll turn out since i'm buying the AL49X and returning the AL46X. All help is appreciated! :)
