I bought a 87-325is with what appeared to be a seized motor. I removed everything to get access. Installed my new used motor(tested -works fine)
I plugged everything in and went to open the roof. It will open the tilt feature but will not close. It won't retract the sunroof either but will close it from the open position when I manually open it.
The switch seems to be good as I tried a number of them.
UPDATE: well now, previous owner was meddling with the wires in the switch receptacle. Lucky I had my other car to see the proper arrangement. Once I replaced a couple wires due to the clips being munched, the relay and motor, and arranged the wires correctly I got the motor opening and closing the roof. But the roof is sticking about an inch from fully closed. I believe the roof needs adjustment but seeing it's leaving a tonne of rust on the track path I am just going to replace the roof and in the mean time not use it.
Can anyone shed some light on this? thanks.
