A few days ago the blower in our '91 318is started to sound like a kid's bike with playing cards stuck in the spokes (whap-whap-whap-whap!). I pulled the blower out, and the squirrel cage on the passenger side was shattered. I bought a replacement, and can't make it fit correctly. It seems like the entire blower is shifted to far to the driver's side, and the fan wheel on the driver's side rubs the housing, while the there is more than .25" air gap between the wheel and the housing on the passenger side. Thinking that my non-oem replacement was not to spec, I stuck the original blower back in, and see the same thing: .25" gap on passenger side (yellow arrow in pic), contact on driver's side (blue arrow).
It feels like the motor can only sit in one location, so I don't think I can just slide the blower to the passenger side. What adjustment am I missing?
