Car: 1988 325iX 2 door 5 speed
Symptom: Drips fuel from back edge of tank when tank more than half full, drips fuel and smells like fuel after drive, even when less than half tank.
From what I can tell crawling around under it under such conditions, the fuel filler hose from the filler pipe to the tank has "perished" and is leaking from a bunch of tiny cracks.
Which hose do I need to buy?
16121180402 or 16131178336?
What's the difference between the two?
My current hose feels like it is the filler pipe diameter for most of its length and necks down in diameter to mate to the connection on the tank... which makes me think 16131178336, but I wanted to canvas the brain trust here before I ordered.
I have replaced the tank in this car... it's a new Spectra unit of the later larger capacity, all the fuel hose is new and all the steel and plastic lines on top of the tank are in good order (I'm pretty sure... probably should check before spending money). I have retightened the hose clamp where the hose connects to the tank, as that was my first thought. It's tight, but that didn't help the leak.
