Electric Impact Wrench

I have a Milwaukee 28v Cordless impact. I like it a lot. It's actually more powerful than my pneumatic impact, but I have a crummy compressor. I tore the whole front end off of a Jeep on one charge, and still had power to spare. -
I have used several including makita, snap-on, IR, milwaukee and dewalt. Snap-on is way overpriced, I have heard that IR Li-Ion are amazing and I bought a makita. The best, most used tool in my box, period. I have the 14.4 and it has an electric brake and a LED on the front. The brake doesn't sound like much but it really makes a HUGE difference for speed. I couldn't be happier. The makita is the only one I have used with a brake but there are probably others. I use this thing for loosening and tightening almost everything that fits 8mm to 19mm. Variable speed control too. Buy one.Leave a comment:

i have a "Goodyear racing" 24v 1/2" impact gun i bought at pepboys for like $70. comes w/ one battery, charger, and a handful of impact sockets in common sizes. works damn well for changing tires at the track and some misc fasteners. i still use a torque wrench to finish the job
IR makes damn nice air toolsLeave a comment:

the only part i see myself tightening with one of these, is the top nut on the front struts. as long as i can use it for that, im good.Leave a comment:

i have a small cordless one that i use for just about everything i do, makes things a little quicker, its only 100 lbft though, most of them that ive seen arent adjustable, you could always get a giant potentiometer to plug it intoLeave a comment:

As far as th Milw. you might as well but the Ridgid at Home Depot for less. It is the same tool.SnapOn, IR, and Milwaukee (my personal favorite) all make very good quality units. I know the Milwaukee is a variable speed unit and think the others are also, which is a form of torque control. The el cheapos work okay, but may be lacking in power and probably won't last long. Not long ago someone at the track the guy parked next to found out that his new el cheapo wouldn't break the lugs loose, but my Milwaukee just laughed at them.
As long as you aren't using it to reassemble, there shouldn't be any problem with full torque. Just make sure to engage the nut fully before pulling the trigger (she said).
The whole u joint "bullet" has me confused BTW. Were you using an extension? I use ujoints all the time with air tools, IE to take the guibo aprts, bell housing bolts..... I have never seen a socket fly off. Furthermore if you were using the big air gun, I def. wouldn't recomend a ujoint.Leave a comment:

Well, you won't just spin it without having it on a fastener, thats for sure.Leave a comment:

I bought that exact impact wrench when it went on sale for $39 or $49.
I've had it for 6 months now, I've used it to disassemble many BMWs with no problems though it is not as strong as my CH air impact gun.Leave a comment:
