    E30 vs 318ti and Z3 rear subframes

I remember seeing on a vendor's website that there are subtle differences between e36 318ti/Z3 subframes and E30 RWD subframes. I am actually wanting to know if I can put an E30 rear subframe into my 318ti, but I thought the information would be useful for e30 folks here as well.

I remember a tread a long time ago where a chat was going on about 325iX rear subfames vs RWD E30 rear subframes - I think we all agreed that the only reason the iX had a different part number was because the frame likely came loaded with iX specific subframe bushings.

I have a nice blasted and epoxied E30 subframe that I'm hoping to pop some 318ti subframe bushings into and be on my way to converting the 318ti over to bigger wheel bearings and E30 trailing arms as well - next post...

I'm using a z3 rear subframe into my e30 with z4 hubs for the 5 lug swap portion. I would try to fit it up, I couldn't find clear and concise verdict here so I just spent a few hours removing and trying the subframes until I knew it fit.

Thanks - Good to know. I have never heard of using the Z4 hubs. Do you use those to widen the track? Which brakes are you using?

Z4 hubs allow use of Z4 rear brakes, which are about same size as E36 328i rear brakes. That gives you vented rears. It shouldnt widen the track.
