Overhaulin - What Else Should I do While I'm at it

I bought remanufactured axles from Autozone, I think they were like $58 each or something after the core charge. They have a lifetime warranty, so thats nice. I was going to rebuild the CV joints myself, but the boots alone were close to $58 per axle.

Be careful, these projects can get expensive fast! I started last October with a $1000 budget to replace my suspension. $3,400 later I was done. I got carried away with the "while I am in there" mentality and replaced almost everything. Now that I am done and it drives and corners like a dream, its totally worth it. Just be prepared for what can happen.

Your suspension setup must be more performance oriented than mine.
I'm about $1400 in for:

Meyle control arms and bushings kit
H&R Cup Kit
Swaybar kit
Rear subframe bushings
Strut mounts, front and rear

Still looking for a set of assembled Axles. If anyone can recommend a good place to purchase rebuilt complete Axles, that would be fantastic.

Started looking into rear axles and found this post on a thread from 2008:

dude cv axles from bimmerparts.com. reman are like 70 a side.

If anyone knows where can I pick up a set of rear axles please let me know.

if you have the money, buy all bushing, arms, links, ects, since they are 20+ years old parts and need a replacement.

Well, the parts costs aren't that bad and the result will be well worth the expense (and labor). The ride and handling will return to what it was like when the car was new.

prices to add up quick but the way the car handles and drives after everything is just as dramatic! Worth it if you plan on keeping the car for a while and want that new car feel again

How far do you want to go? On the front suspension I'd replace the upper strut bearings, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, tie rods and boots.

On the rear suspension I'd replace the subframe bushings, trailing arm bushings, shock mounts, wheel bearings, half shaft boots, and the soft brake lines that are above the subframe. The wheel bearings are sort of optional, but since the half shafts must be removed to change the boots or to change the bearings it makes sense to change the bearings.

Hello gentlemen, I'm trying to figure out what else should I purchase and replace since I will be pulling everything apart.

Just purchased:
Control arms + bushings
H&R Cup kit

Is it recommended that I replace the strut housings?

I want to replace the bushings on the rear.
Is there a kit for that too?

I noticed one broken rubber boot in the rear. What is that called?

I do plan to install new brake pads and rotors. I'm not sure how to inspect the calipers to make sure they are in good shape. I will do a Google search for that. Any additional info would be great.
