    ABS Wiring Question

So I was in the process of fixing some ABS wiring, as I noticed the wires and connectors for the left front wheel sensor were in rough shape and the plastic connector above the wheel arch was crumbling to pieces, with my ABS light coming on at random and staying lit, so I decided to replace some wires and solder the connections.

I noticed the two wires leading from the main harness along fender to the plastic connector are twist-wrapped inside a shrink wrap, and the wires are the same color, however the wires coming from the wheel sensor are different colors.

Like a stooge, I cut the busted plastic connector out before verifying which wires connect, assuming that the wires were different colors all the way up when I saw the wires leading from the wheel sensor were different colors...

My question is, does it really matter which way the current travels through the wheel sensor? Or does it just read a current passing through? Here is a pretty detailed ABS wiring diagram that I found, and I can't really tell either way based on the diagram on how the wheel sensor works...

I see that the diagram shows the wheel speed sensor is a magnet wrapped in a coil (i had no idea!) so does it matter which way the electrical pulse travels?

If it does matter which wires are connected, what will happen upon start-up if the wires are crossed? I'm assuming I'd just blow out the ABS relay at worse.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Working...
