I need pads and rotors in the rear done. How much should this cost me?

    Thanks

Well the Mossman needs to eat too! Mighty Motors is a tiny BMW shop, and I bet their rent is pretty expensive.

at the shop I work at we charge 2 hrs for rear brakes at 75 an hour. 1/2 hr. more than front brakes cuz of adjusting the E-brake. E30's are super easy though, some of the newer cars the shock interferes with the slider bolts which adds 2 minutes to the job, so the 2 hrs is more justifiable :)

Damn. well I'll let you know what happens with the BMW shop here.

    Thanks boys.
$400????!!!?? They might as well just stick the wrench up your ass, that is how bad they are raping you. It would cost about half that in parts alone to do all 4 pads/rotors. You need to do this in a parking lot or something. $400 is beyond fucked-up.

if you can turn a wrench (hit it with a hammer if needed) then this is not a job to be paying someone else.
and surely its not big enough to attract enough attention to get you in trouble. if someone were to ask, just say you had a brake problem and you didnt want to drive another foot.

That's what I was going to say. You must know SOMEONE who has at least a driveway or something you can do it in. Brakes are such an easy job, if you take it somewhere, you're going to end up paying 3x what it would cost to do it yourself.

    Sheer highway robbery.

Rear pads and rotors on an e30 is what - 20 minutes per side? Add another 20 minutes to bleed them - its an hour tops.
