Yes, they are designed to use the stock upper strut hat and mount...that is exactly why the spring tapers out like that.

so these work with stock upper front mounts? i have never seen a coilover spring that is small at the bottom for the sleeve and big at the top. is this normal practice?

I was reading e46 and 5 series reviews. All positive but that is soo cheap it seems they cant be legit.
Its OBO offer him a outrageous price and see if he takes it.

The struts are a little bit shorter but these coilover can low at the front till 12cm = 4,7inch
