I installed a set of TMS spherical bearing rear shock mounts in my car. I know they say they make more noise. I get that. I am not bothered by the fact that my CD player skips while driving down my dirt driveway. What I don't get, is why I hear a "clunk" sound from the left rear when I go over bumps. Everything is new (shock, mount, bolts, nuts), and the noise goes away when the shock is not in the car (just to make sure the subframe mounts /rtabs didn't suddenly fail).
I've tried everything I can think of to locate the source of the clunking, including putting a dial gauge on the top of the shock and jumping on the bumper, riding in the trunk at 30mph and feeling stuff, as well as leaning out of the car from the trunk at 30mph and feeling stuff. No dice.
There is no evidence of mushrooming on any of the shock or mount components (which I would expect to see if there was play) after driving on it for a few weeks.
Do I stfu and deal with it? It's only the left side, which is why I'm slightly concerned, although not concerned enough to skip today's rallyx.
