I upgraded to H&R sports, 21MM vert bar with new links/bushings front and back, new rear trailing arm and subframe bushings along with a fresh set of tires. It's most definitely a (street) sports car now. I swapped out my tires before doing all of this and that even made a difference. I was pretty bare.
Might upgrade the rear bar to an IE 19mm at some point but for now all is very much better. So now I have an Eibach Pro-Kit( two years old) if anyone is lookin' for a cheap upgrade. My conclusion is that the body roll I was experiencing had many variables including all bushings. The springs were a big improvement but those bushings/links were nasty and in dire need of replacement. Thanks guys for the input and the recommendation on the H&R's!

Yea I need to track it to really say I drove it hard. still doesn't look like much roll especially compared to stock. That could also be the reason why I feel the HR races have "no" roll cause I'm comparing it to my experience with the stock springs. Awesome pic examplesLeave a comment:

OP Bilstien HD's are meant for stock ride height, sport shocks should be used with lowering springs. I agree with using H&R race, as they are rated much better for Bilsteins.

I can't say anything for the sway bars but I can tell you H&R races on their own almost eliminate the need for sway bars. That's a little exaggeration but I'm hardly getting any roll on stock sways.Leave a comment:

So I looked further into swapping springs even if there is an issue with bushings/bars, etc. Here are some specs. Looks like the H&R aren't that much different height wise:
Eibach Pro-Kit: 1.0-1.5"
H&R Sport: 1.25" front // 1.25" Rear
Spring rate:
Eibach: 102
H&R Sport: 180

Remember that sways are torsion bars -- and you maximum spring rate can only be 200% of what one of the springs is. I think your thinking isn't always practical. Especially if you're looking for quick response in your steering.
i don't see how this is possible either.I have been told that lowering springs on our cars preloads the sways making them less effective. Adjustable sway bar links should correct this and help body roll. I have not done this becuause it doesnt add up to me (maybe the front). Just a theory I am passing to you.
life of automotive springs is long. like seriously long. Unless they've been under some massive heat or some serious load for a long time, they shouldn't deviate significantly for many years.If the springs are near their end of life, yes you will get more body roll. That shouldn't be for a long time though, but I did not design eibach springs so I'm not sure what they designed to.
Sure, you can slap on huge sway bars and you will have less roll. You will need to reinforce the rear so you don't tear your bar off as it will be doing all of the work to make up for the soft springs.
I still recommend stiffer springs as it will also reduce dive in under braking and lift during acceleration which will also help handling. Sway bars will not do this.
again, the big bar can only provide 200% of one "soft" spring.
correct swaybar selection can help acceleration or braking when cornering.
I run a factory front bar and a factory 12mm rear sway (none with 318) and my car is super neutral with a hint of oversteer if you are aggressive on slaloms. It's perfect for a 318.Leave a comment:

WTF, why would Eibach make a performance spring at a lower rate than OEM?! That makes no sense. More of a rhetorical question.. but shit man, that's weird. They claim to reduce body roll in comparison to stock springs :-/

The eibachs have really weird (low) spring rates. Do you have the pro-kit or their "race" kit?
H&R sport, vert front bar, ix/m3 rear bar is a very balanced setup. However it doesn't lower the car that much. It is very good for DD duty.Leave a comment:
