thanks for the link, lots of actual info there.

well i was able to procure a set of front eibach springs from a member here. they will be arriving at the same time my replacement housing get here. so it looks like i won't be cutting my springs after all.

that's why i wanted to cut my springs in the first place. i am lining up several things in case one or more don't work out.

the spacers are so the threaded part of the compressors don't hit the body making it impossible to shorten the assembly. kinda hard to explain, i'll snap some pics tonight. i might be getting the Eibach springs and i need to wait until Tuesday for my replacement housing so i may not need any of this after all. so many decisions now.

back story, i brought my strut assemblies to my local BMW shop to have the strut collars removed as i don't have the proper tools to do it. one ended up rusting itself together and needed a replacement housing. went to the junk yard where there is only one E30 and i was able to get it without any issues. it was in such good shape. same thing, brought to the shop to remove collar and while the owner was at lunch my strut Assembly was given to the scrap metal guy. so i am waiting on them to get me a new assembly. thus is my luck.

i love how quick most of you are to judge others. i get a good chuckle from it.

thanks to all those that contributed. after looking at my situation closer last night and an unforeseen set back, i will be pursuing a different option over the next few days. if that doesn't pan out then the springs go under the knife.

why do you suggest to not do it? did you have a bad experience or are you just re-posting what everyone else posts?
