So, my e30 has the stock manual rack. The rack and the linkage look like this.
Since my rack is kinda tired by now (play near center, torn boot) and is reaally long (almost 5 turns side do side) i would like to swap it for a e36/z3/e46 rack (without PS obviously).
Now this swap is well documented and i have no questions about putting the rack in there, my only problem is the linkage.
Manual rack e30's have a different steering linkage as you can see, and getting a PS linkage is kind of a PITA over here, would it be a good idea to cut the linkage i have and reweld it to shorten it or should i just stop dicking around and find a PS linkage and modify it?
