I have two sets of wheels for the e39, and I figured I'd try a little experiment.
Given the shorter ratio diff, I find that I break traction on my 235/45r17s at the moment...so I need wider rears. Thing is, I have 8 inch wheels all around (got rid of the original Style 32s), one set of each style 42s and 71s. Both sets are 2-piece wheels.
What I was thinking is this: keep the faces, but get 9" barrels, so that I can run 255s or 265s in the rear. If I can find barrels from a 2-piece wheel with a similar offset (ET26), would it work? Of course, the wheel would have to have the same fastener setup too...
