Reminds me of the time that it took almost 4 hours to get a right-side thrust arm off an old E34. The drive side took 20 mins to get off and install a new one. -
PO took mine out :) bils and h&r is what's under there now....I believe?Leave a comment:

A two prong puller works wonders and has both sides off with ease in 15 minutes.Leave a comment:

Not that it matters. Forgot to add, while doing the shocks I made a pleasant discovery that the PO had replace the sub frame and nearly all the bushings in the rear end with poly bushing. One less hassle I'll have to deal with!Leave a comment:

next time use a pickle fork to get them off. I have removed a lot of these from e28s and never had a problem since I started using a fork.

Mine were original with 248K miles. All the bolts came right out no issues but the metal sleeve that inserts into the trailing arm was seized. What I basically ended up doing was beating them till the bushing let go leaving just the sleeve stuck on. With just that you can get vice grips and wiggle it out or hammer it till it starts to loosen up. I would have liked to burn out the bushing but it's very close to the CV boot and I didn't want to damage that. I applied a good amount of anti seize when I installed the new ones as I'd like to get lowering springs and don't want to destroy my new bilsteins.Leave a comment:

I had to ditch a set of Billie sports on an e28 because the shock got rusted to the trailing arm. Removed the bolt, no problem, but the shock and arm were as one. Couldn't use heat. More force would have made them look like OP's shocks. So I left them on the car.Leave a comment:
