wait, your e30's still have doors on them?

I'm lucky if I can pull anything bigger than the shifter knob.

I only see kids and illegals breaking stuff for fun. Fun for the feeble minded I suppose?

I know guys who go to auctions and, on cars that they know the electronics on, pull one or two electrical plugs on the motor to keep it from running. That way they get the cars cheaper since it appears to not be a running car. haha

I fucking hate seeing an E30 that looks like it might be clean only to find the interior absolutely DESTROYED by some dick trying to get a 13 button out or some other stupid bullshit

Done it before, but its not much of a deterrent for a determined person. What really irks me is when people just destry stuff for the heck of it. There was a clean 750i with the V12 but a bad tranny at a local yard, and I saw some guy pretty much destroy 2 of the 4 ECUs.

locking the doors DOES have a greater advantage of keeping pokers out of the car. But if I, for example, came along and found a locked e30 with goods inside, better believe it would be open instantaneously.
Is it wrong to lock the door? hell no. Would my wife side with yours? sigh... yes.
If i find something that can be easily removed and i dont have the money for at that time, I will relocate it to an unrelated vehicle to be picked up later.
And I think i've made a thread about it before, 5-finger nuts, screws, plugs, buttons, sensors, etc

i suppose youd say i have no morals... at least i dont randomly destroy parts in the yards.

I've gone as far as stripping the parts and hiding them somewhere else in the yard where they would be safe. I was fixing up a shelby daytona when I was younger and found one with everything I needed for the interior, digital clocks, obc, factory boost guage, pristine t-tops, steering wheel, little interior trim pieces, etc.....but I knew I was lacking the funds to get it all that day. So I pulled it all and hid that shit in the back of the yard in the ford section where no one wanting mopar parts would begin to look, purchased some other stuff including the set of original cs 16" star wheels off the car and hoped my plan would work...I believe the map I left in my tool box was left at an upside down econoline van...straight to the mercury topaz with no hood and smashed roof.....in the spare tire well of bashed tempo 3 cars over...I locked the trunk and took the keys. It was still there a couple weeks later...even tho the donor car was fairly gutted in the mean time which sucked. I really wanted the seats out of it too, but they were gone :(.....it sucked being 18, going to school full time, making minimum wage, and getting paid bi-weekly.....so I don't blame you at all for your effort. Hope it's all still waiting for you when you go back.
