On my e46, I used to run Dinan springs which were one coil less (about an inch) than my stock springs on stock shocks, however it yielded a lot more bouncing because it wasn't dampened well (of course that is to say the spring rate is significantly different as well)
My car had been in the garage for roughly 8 months prior to putting the springs in so I kinda lost reference to what it felt like before.
I personally do not notice any additional or excess bouncing but I might not be a good judge of handling characteristics compared to some.
I also do not plan to keep this set up in the long run I just wanted to do something until I can get a proper set up like H&R race or Ground control.

Matt was being sarcastic... we know what bumpstops are

we just don't use them (some don't, all should...)

my mistake, I should've been more clear. Traditionally, they're called microcellurlar jouncers and play a big part in the e46 3 series suspension

I am referring to number 5 on the diagram (325i)

and number 11 on this diagram (m3)

Also everyone that are running this set up, What bumpstops did you use?

M3 bump stops? original bumpstops? or original bumpstops that are trimmed

with respect, it is a matter of personal preference.

I've been sold on the idea about m3 springs based on a number of factors. spring rate, modest lowering, least amount of compromise between handling and comfort while still maintaining, as close as can be, a factory feel.

I just recently bought a 325is and i'm trying to restore everything, as close as factory settings as possible with subtle visual refreshers. Had I bought my car with the intention of tracking, thats a totally different story of course.

I have Bilstein sports on m3 springs and its perfect.
I would never bomb bumps but out freeways are horrible and its just fine.

you wont be dissapointed as they range from 90-110 dollars.
