There is a 10 mph leeway given in court.

Not what I was told 4mph is the limit, and I work with a retired cop just thought I would clear that up. I argued with him ove the same thing 10mph he proved it too.

Speed alone doesn't kill. Careless/reckless driving does. Not everyone who speeds participates in that. In fact, according to common sense and personal experience when someone speeds they are much more alert and usually scanning the road for cops. Sure your a professor and I'm a teenager but what the fuck are you talking about? No one in this thread even mentioned racing or doing anything stupid really, let alone drinking and driving.

i disagree, it is not necessarily dangerous (and therefore bad) to be driving over the speed limit. someone paying attention driving at 90 is safer than say someone driving 60 in the left lane while eating(which is more or less legal). the law isn't always right for everyone, maturity is not just sitting back and obeying every single law.

Thanks vertitas... sorry for the rant but thinking it is smart to outwit the laws; only it seems clever to those lacking in maturity to see that their actions have consequences.

Young people 21-29 that just dont get simple, civil behavior and responsibility. Driving like your on a race track, no matter how well you and your car may be prepared for it, is still illegal and irresponsible. It seems to me to be an extension of the overall attitude of young people these days.

I notice no one is admitting they were drinking when they got their ticket. Were you? I would bet half of you that are bragging on how to get out of a speeding ticket were also drinking, if not intoxicated. You may have gotten lucky with just the speeding ticket.

At any rate, before you flame me for what is a mature and logical opinion based on years of observing irresponsible behavior, take a look at YOURself first.

Wouldn't you guys rather have cheap insurance than constantly be getting traffic violations?

Lots of wasted money on tickets and higher insurance.

so this relates and relates to the other thread of "blow by ricer".
The day before yesterday I was passed by a guy on a rice rocket, he had to be doing at least 80 in a 55,
then I found out that my wife nearly got in a wreck ( in MY 318ic) with all the rubber necks watching the cops load a motorcycle on a tow truck. a lady rubbernecker swerved into my wifes lane.
guess the guy was caught passing a off duty cop ( who called it in and assisted), the guy was hitting 100+ and passing on the shoulder
( assinine, the road is has pot holes and the shoulders have gravel)

I wonder if he thinks the cops are jerks,,,, I think he's a reckless asshole

there is a time and a place for speed and rolling onto the shoulders

the attached is the article if you want to read it

but I have matured now in my olden age, and now odly enough my best friend is a cop ( never thought that would happen in my youth)

I am gratefull we have cops around

Im not saying I drive the speed limit, often over, or roll threw a stop if no one is around ( especailly on my motorcycle which does not trip all the inground sencors at a stop light) or drive in the wrong side of the road in some nice twisties if I can see ahead of me, and I will cuss under my breath if I see a cop light come on behind me.

the point is, if I deserve it, then I man up and deal with it respectfully and not cuss the enforcer but cuss myself for either breaking the law, or getting caught
but often I have a built in "cop" my wife, "slow down, use your turn signal, your crossing lanes"
    yes dear

So how is that a bullshit speeding ticket? You were going almost double the speed limit (a felony btw), and got popped for almost 20 over. That's not bullshit, that's you being reckless.
Class 2 misdemeanor in NC....112 in a 55 :D Luckily I was in the middle of no where, never had a prior ticket, and a really really good lawyer. Speeding got dropped...Still got the reckless and careless but only had to pay the fine, and do 24hrs community service..

Got a point or 2 on the license as well.

My fault, I was being stupid and deserved it.

Everyone keeps telling me to fight it by written declaration but what could I possibly argue in my favor? And can I request traffic school in the letter as well?

    haha... i had a 75 in a 35 with my e36 M3 5:30 in the morning..
