If you are a student at the local community college you can get Snap-On 50-55% off.

I cant talk myself into working out a plan to take advantage of it, but I could have the bitchin box that I want/need for a lot less coin.. When it's a savings of ~$4-5k, I think the effort of signing up for classes and stuff might be worth it. I dont even think you have to actually attend the courses....

i dont know about you, but my transmission output shaft and axle nuts are all 30mm. i bought a deep walled impact socket from mcmaster and then turned it down on my friends lathe to make it "thin walled".

another important tool i recommend is a big hulking friend that can break loose all the stuck bolts that i'm too weak to get..

I use some craftsman stuff like screwdrivers, but some of their stuff is just shit. There's nothing I hate more than Craftsman ratchets.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass. I have a '75 Leyland Mini and all my tools are metric since that's all I ever needed up until this car. It's a fun little car though.

Lift, 80 gallon air compressor, electric snap-on impact, etc

I've gotten picky over the years, and my fucked up back agrees with me

Oh, my bad. Not imperial, not metric.

"Whitworth is an old British standard for screw threads and sizes. You need the Whitworth size tools to work on your old Austin, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, MG, BSA, or other old British made automobile or motorcycle."

A popular brand of British tools is, likely enough:
    King Dick (?!?)

^ Imperial is used by us, and metric is used by them.

I must not be beating on my car hard enough. I <3 Craftsman. I think I've only broken one tool, and that was a 1/2 to 3/8 step down adapter. Screwdrivers are worn, but hey, they're the catch-all tool, right? ;) I do wish that the ratchets were able to have fewer degrees between clicks (whatever you call it), but otherwise, I can't complain. For the $$, the warranty, and the fact that there is a Sears EVERYWHERE, you can't beat it.
