That Henry J's badass. Love the old gasser's. Few times I've made the roadtrip to see family and planned it out to go and spend the week at hot august nights. So much fun, and last time there was a nice altered wheel base 67 impala. Sad I don't have my pictures with me as their film and on the other side of the state. I suck at scanning. But here was my dads HenryJ. He never got to finish it cause he got sick at the time, and he had to sell it. It just had a 350 in it with a tunnel ram 2 4 setup. Had a straight axle for it, but never got installed. It had the early Impala headers that kicked out under the car cause the Impalas had the X frame. Although fenderwell headers would of been more period correct.

Is the style on these to have the headers dump right past the wheel?
My friend had a car similar to this, looked like an hold Bel-Air but cant remember the exact make, thats when i first heard the term.

The "air compressors" are actually fuel tanks, that was the style in the '60's. It also helped fuel flow to the mechanical pump. The front end lift was an early attempt at weight shifting, to get more traction. They would also alter the wheelbases of some cars to help traction. The slicks that were used at the time were hard as rocks.

It's funny, I grew up seeing cars like this in Hot Rod magazine. I'll bet 75% of you guys have never seen a gasser in the flesh. Makes me feel old.

Oh, and the term "gasser" just meant what what fuel was being used (i.e not alchohol or nitromethane)

I love gassers. The 2002 there looks really cool. Along with the Corvair. I'll scan some pictures of my dads HenryJ that he had, later tonite.
