'01 dodge neon engine missing?

Didja check FP Jean? Maybe a sticky injector. Or, valve adjustment. Was there a random misfire code too? -
OP - good luck! In my case I was just getting a P0304? misfire on cyl # and putting new plugs/wires/set of injectors/coil(s) didn't do a thing. Even checked compression and it's even on all four. It misfires hard enough to notice it running rough, and it does this usually right after filling the car up.Leave a comment:

I think a code for cylinder 4 misfire is a pretty good indication. ;)
Pretty much says, check the plug, check the coil, check the injector, check the wiring to those things.Leave a comment:

They will get a P-code, I don't know how much more specific you'd want.Leave a comment:

They have good scanners? I used a generic obd2 scanner on my gf's dd and it does give a code but it's too general to really pin-point it to any given component "cyl 4 misfire".
Dealers must have better scanners no?Leave a comment:

Check out neons.org seriously it's an informative site.
I had a first gen, a 1998 and I replaced the coilpack twice in 200k but never had any problems with the sensors, though the tps is also notorious for failing my money is on the coilpack and or wires.Leave a comment:

My thoughts exactly. The parents went out and about, so when they return I'll have my dad take it to autozone and have the codes pulled.Leave a comment:

Take it to autozone, have them scan the code for free, then type the p-code into google with the model of car, and on some forum, somewhere, they will be shittalking like we do here about it being whatever it is.
Badabing. You just avoided a diagnostic charge.Leave a comment:

I know how common coils are. I have replaced a Cam sensor on one of the two, but have not replaced a coil yet. But in an 8 year old car I'd assume it's time.Leave a comment:

I can't remember if bad coils are common on those but I do know crank and cam sensors are.Leave a comment:

Sounds like coil or CPS intermittent failure. My 05's (two of them) I've replaced the plugs every 15k, the wires every 30k, and have about 70-90k on them. If the wires get aged and build up resistance, the coil will become a weak point.Leave a comment:
