Yea, the M6 certainly isn't the most attractive car they've ever built. But I don't think a new M5, shortened and chopped, would look much better than an M6 vert.

Why? They have the M6 convertible. Same engine, about the same weight.

e39 the best M car? Who the hell did they talk to!
    What's a better M car than the e39?

Most of the old ones are slow.

Most of the new ones are ugly or heavy.

e39 is the perfect compromise; sexy, sophisticated, 394hp, not too heavy. It's a good car all around.

meh.... the body lines make it look alot like a Saab convertible. The only part of it I like, and can identify as being a BMW attribute, is the 4-eyes headlights.

Do you know how many they made or where those prototypes are? Don't recall seeing one in any of the BMW Welt pictures I've seen but would they really destroy the ones that were built rather than locking them up somewhere.

Love that part, well more like the 15 minute segment. Funny thing is now Lexus has a convertible and Infinity doesn't. Damnit wait now Infinity has one again and Lexus has two.

That's pretty much the general consensus bud. It's not the first time I've heard it.

And there also never was and never has been a convertible. Again, it defeats the purpose of the 5-series.

The M5 is/was a 4-door sedan that could you could use to take the kids to school, commute to the office, and flog the shit out of at the track on Sunday. Turning it into a 2-door convertible totally spits in the face of that.
