ive seen some of the cars that race in japans supercar[?] series. they all look like that, but ive never seen anything american/european or older than 5 years.

That is Super GT, formerly the Japanese GT Championship (JGTC). It followed on from Group A touring cars over there and is split into 2 classes: GT500 (capped 500hp) and GT300 (capped 300hp). All the cars are RWD-only, carbon-bodied, tube-framed with dry sumps, in-board suspension, set-back engines, sequential 'boxes, etc.

GT500 cars are FAST - they're effectively faster than GT1-class cars. There used to be Moslers, Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, McLaren F1s, etc racing in the JGTC series while the cars were more in line with the FIA GT stuff, but as they grew into their own beasts the O/S cars dropped out.

I think there are still some 911 RSR things running in GT300, though. maybe a couple of Ferraris, too.
