I will say categorically that while the Quattro made more power and blows the Frenchie's doors off for aural appeal, the Pug was faster, better developed and didn't drive like a ludicrously nose-heavy, old, flexing pig.
You weren't trying hard enough. ;)

Audi didn't bother with the Audi motorsport graphics on the #1 car, but did get the basic sponsor stickers on.

They ran a stage at the State Patrol training facility in Shelton, this is an area that was wetted down with sprinklers.

This is at an ORV park, heading out to the peninsula.

This car was so fast sometimes I missed getting it in the frame properly. LOL. I was too quick on the trigger.

One driver, ( I think it was Walter Rohl) said these cars were beginning to get to fast for human thought.

Oddly enough, after a few years, through suspension and drive train development, the group A cars, which replaced group B began to break some of the stage records set by the group b cars even though they were way down on power.
The group A cars were never exciting as the B cars though.

    RIP GROUP B.

I recently scanned some photos from the 1985 Olympus Rally (pre digital camera). This was the year Audi sent one of their updated Quattros here for testing prior to debuting the car latter in the year in Europe. Hanu Mikkola drove the #1 prototype. American John Buffum was in car #2. This was the first motorsport event I ever attended and it got me hooked on cars. I was a freshman in college.

    Parc Ferme in Shelton, WA.
