I got that same ticket as you, twice. He can sign it off, he's being an ass. I've never measured my exhaust, I've always just gotten it signed off.

You should PM Matt about ryans. Hes in SJ. his sn is ayymattayy or something. He posted in the thread about the meet. It should only cost a tank of gas. Maybe if you can't afford it, you can hitch a ride with him.

If you think you can't afford to go because of the ticket, don't sweat it. The fine won't be due for at least 2-3 months. You can also call the court and push it back even farther. Also, if worse comes to worse, you can do community service to pay for the ticket. The court "pays" you 10$ an hour. Say your ticket is 100$, you do 10 hours of community service and your fine is paid for.

You should probably post this on baye30 to get the best answer because we all live around the same cops/laws. In fact e30nub just posted the same thing today pretty much lol

EDIT: this is what you gotta do.

    A. Find a chill cop to sign it off. Not hard to do, Ive had all 5 of mine signed off. Im surprised your GFs dad wont sign it for you.

    B. If you think your car is less than 95dbs then take your car down to either a CHP office or Ref place to get them to measure it. If its under 95dbs then have them print you out proof take that to court and show the judge. If its over 95dbs then you gotta get it fixed or like I said earlier have someone sign it off. If you go that route its gonna be 120$. The only way to not pay anything is if your exhaust isnt over 95dbs.

Dealing with paying your fine. With fix it tickets you do not have to go before a judge. Im 99% sure that you have to go to the court house in santa clara off homestead. They have a clerks office, you just walk in and show them your ticket and pay. Or you can pay by mail or through the phone. It all depends on how you take care of it though. If you prove that the ticket is BS because your exhaust is under 95dbs, then I urge you to make a court date and show the judge. It will be dropped.

Also, just for everyone's information, every state is different with their laws. Im sure most people know this. What works in other states may not work here and vice versa. Most cops here make a lot of money. CHPs in CA make upwards of 130k. Regular cops making triple digits. Yes they are bored and have nothing to do but they dont pull you over because they get more money out of writing tickets. There are no more "quotas" for officers in CA. So please if you guys have no idea what you are talking about, please refrain from saying it. But this is R3V so I cant expect much.

Ive been through this same ticket twice by two different agencies. Once with CHP and once with Santa Clara sheriffs. I know my info is correct. I can prove that I have received the same vehicle code violation as the OP.

Also, go to Ryans this sunday ;)
Her dad said he couldn't sign it off. I know he would if he could, maybe hes being weird, he likes to pick on me. Idk, the ticket is Santa Clara County Sheriff. Was your exhaust over 95db?

I would go to ryans shop, but i dont know if i can afford the trip at this moment! :(

This is what you do if you don't want to get in trouble... Don't do anything illegal or just keep your vehicle stock.

On the other note, in my area when we get those tickets, you roll up to the court house with your exhaust being stock or take pictures of it or whatever to show it's fixed and they normally will let it go from there.
