how to: roof rack removal without key????

    when you order they make sure to ask them to send the "SERVICE KEY" your going to want one. it allows you to take the cores in and out once you ahve them unlocked

    you cant drill it out, you will ruin the entire mechanism.

    You cant cut it off as there is no way to get directly to the bolt. without destroying everything.

    You cant replace the lock cylinders without getting them out first which requires a special key,

    Thule has put alot of time and money into making so they systems cant jsut be taken off easily without destroying things.

    give the guy 10 bucks, and tell him to hold onto the rack for a few days.

    they got a 4 pack for $55. i might cut the bolt behind the knob. take it home and buy a key and 4 new bolts. anyone know if its easy to replace that bolt?

    They are pretty easy to remove. I have seen locksets at REI for my Yakima...

    a bike shop would sell them? tumblers? could i go to a locksmith? they would have tumblers and probably take the old ones out and install new ones for me

    you don't even need to order them. Just go to an REI or a bikeshop. They sell them.

    look at the KEY
    it it has a number on it
    the key
    is $5 for thule or yakima trust me
    I did it and you have a key and good locks

    Or a nail, and bang the end till flat and then bend it 90 degrees would be good. A screwdriver will get in your way.
