Here it is: SAFE Remote Start for MANUAL!

Ah...now I see the issue.
Matt, when you install this, you have to power up several wires, right off the ignition switch. You power main ignition (green) and accessory (purple) and connect to the start wire (black/yellow or black)...so when you yank on the park brake and don't step on the brake, the remote start turns on your ignition circuit so the car simply doesn't shut off...see?
Oh, I r teh sukk at vidoez. My cameras charger is 100 miles away and Kim took her camera to work today for the very first time, so I had nothing to video with!
IMO, "real" 1T windows are like E36 or later: first click should manually control the window, and the second click should go all the way up/down.
All of the other controllers that offer 1T modules have a quick tap to roll up or down, or press and hold to manually raise/lower. I don't like that for some retarded reason. I had that in a couple of cars over the years, seems I was always fighting them. -
So then does this not use the ignition cylinder? I just don't see how you take the keys out without turning it off. I need visualization. Video plzkthx. ;)One touch is still up in the air: testing starts in 2 weeks or so, but requires 2 stage green base E36 switches. Likely gonna be about $50 to $75 per window (!) though, so pretty damn expensive.
I can set you up with the parts to roll all 4 windows up and down by remote for about $80 and they really aren't that tough to add. You could easily a switch to do all 4 up or down or both, I have done that with a 5th window switch replacing the circuit breaker.
You 'vert guys are gonna go nuts over my next thing: I am gonna make the glovebox slide in and out instead of hinging open, then I am gonna motorize it with a window motor and a switch (same one as the top uses) for a high security solution to storage.
Matt, the horn ONLY honks when the alarm is triggered. Silent, chirps or (go to hell you noisy bastard!) chirps and horn are the 3 options for arming/disarming.
As far as the "shut down outside the car", that is the only way the alarm knows it is in neutral, so yes, that has to be like that.
It is unbelievably cool though! Getting out of your running car and having it shut down a few seconds later, then chirp as it arms is just fucking cool.
Someone earlier asked about the "hill parking"...yeah, gotta rip the ebrake while letting off the brakes, basically. I was able to do it pretty gracefully first try.
Video was fail and car is gone. Lemme see if I can do something about it, am doing another very soon in an E28, another in my E30, another in Kims car and another E28 right after that.
Also, would it be the "real" one touch? I thought about buying that module/kit thing available at most vendors (like Pelican) but the description makes it sound like it makes it either all the way up or all the way down.

I do like the window roll up/down feature, though. And I'd definitely rather have the "beep" instead of the horn honking when it arms/disarms.

awesome, this would be a great feature for cabrios. Its cumbersome to have to get into the car, roll down 4 windows, get out, fold top down. Do you think one touch window roll down is possible using the cabin switches?Leave a comment:

You need something built in the future, Luke, let me know. I'll do it for labor + materials. You're top notch in my book and I even have a genuine business license and everything ;) It would almost be official or something...
This is the coolest shit I've heard of in awhile. I'd love to see a video of how everything works.Leave a comment:

Luke I was wondering if its possible to change the horn sound to the arm sound found in toyota/lexus vehicles. The soft "beep" None of the shops near me have been able to come up with an answer.Leave a comment:

Good lord...great questions, guys.
My turn for a question for you:
I know basically dick about making/posting a video...should I try? The car is still here, all buttoned up. I can show the basics of how it works, right?

Well, basica keyless should not incur the wrath of your electrical system...PM me your cars year and model, I will research it for you, see what we can figure out.Leave a comment:

Yes, I can, but the cost difference to me is only about $20 or so...so you probably already know what I am gonna say...
Being a combo system makes the deal IMO.
BTW, Guys: This can do BASIC Turbo Timer Function too, and it can keep the engine running for "Pit stops"
It also has 3 "Auxiliary" outputs you can use to roll windows up or down, motorize your trunk lid, turn on your seat heaters, whatever!Leave a comment:

No, only if you want to remote start. If you hit the brake, it shuts off...but since this question was asked:
I am gonna go test that shit in the AM.
I thinkyou can keep your foot on the brake while setting the ebrake, then if you hit it again after that is when it won't start.
While on this topic, there is another option: I can change the programming to require you to push a button 9on the transmitter) before you shut the motor off. That is how the car I just did is set up, as his GF drives it and he doesn't want her remote starting it.
It has a siren: that is part oif the "alarm" stuff. It also includes "light flash" and you MUST tap into 3 circuits to do it right! I will be prewiring the diodes to do this, so it is pretty simple.I've been wanting exactly this for a long time, actually. I just haven't wanted to waste the time on my current car when I know I'm getting another E30 soon.
Anyway, if you could do a light flash rather than the horn honk, and it's not stupid expensive, I'd be Very interested. WI winter mornings suck and it would be awesome to include all of these features in a dummy safe unit designed with instructions for my particular car.
Oh...you bastard!Just in case you guys are curious about what Luke thinks are good tools:
Crimpers, channel-lock or go home
Test-Light, I have "The Probe", but one of these nice doohickeys.
He gave me the lecture many moons ago, so I bought the tools.
Luke do you have a picture of the garage door in Eugene? That'll sell some fool-proof remote starts. :-)
What JoshiePoo is referring to here is my having installed remote start in my GFs E30, with the only safety being her knowing how to shut it down quickly.
She uuuuuuuuuuuuuummm...failed. WTF, new garage door only cost me $700 and the bumper was already screwed up, right? She learned her lesson, I paid for my stupidity.
Oh yeah, hers will have this feature soon. I try not to fuck up the same way twice.Leave a comment:

No worries, I can easily set this up for E36 as well: I just don't know the sneaky wire locations that is gonna make this easier in the E30.
Chris, you have been to my shabby little hovel: you know I am a renter! Where the hell where you when I had my shop and needed a showroom built, Hmmmm? How much if I drive down and have you install it, Senor Luke? Keyless entry, "alarm" and remote start? I'd love to have this for my baby (wife). She'd dig the crap out of it!
I *could* install it, but really don't want to, heh. Shoot me a price and if you need any work done (drywall, trim, painting, etc etc) perhaps we could make a deal? *winkwinkwink*
Otherwise, let me know and I'll see about rounding up some money ;)
Guys, this is about $400 as an installed price: Andy might be able to do it for somewhat less.
Shoving my fat old ass under a dashboard is getting harder every damn day!
Andy, ya WHORE!
Guys, for those that do not know, Andy here trained under my grumpy old man thumb for about two years. His work is excellent IMO. No corners cut, no bullshit "T-Taps", never ever any ghetto ass "scotchlocks", just quality work, for way fucking less than he should charge.Leave a comment:
