If you can do an s14 swap for the same cost as an m50? Which would you choose?

If you're looking for power, swap the M50 and turbo it, if you have the funds. If you're looking for the "cool factor", then go with the S14. Make sure you have a seperate bank acct, for maintance & rebuilt (if you need one in the future).

For a track bitch, I'd probably do the S14. But it's hard not to look at the cost delta there. Realistically, an S14 is not a cheap motor to run all the time.

If you were swapping a 325i/iS, I'd say the 24v, but with an m42 iS, you are gonna have the same handling, but with a bump in power.

Well I highly doubt it would be cheaper, far more pricey in fact. S14 would still be my personal choice though.

So heres my situation... I can can get a complete s14 swap roughly for the same cost as an m50 swap. (I mean complete engine,trans,ecu,etc....) Im stumped, I know having the s14 would be awesome but I just dont know what the power would feel like? Would it be quicker then an m50? Just looking for some input. Maybe from guys that have driven both? Oh, by the way the swap would be going in to my 91 318isTags: None
