On a side note, could someone elaborate why BMW now uses two small turbos instead of a big one?
Has anyone done a dual turbo e30 build? I mean not a new model engine, but like M50 TT.

The N54 TT has now been replaced by the N55 single [twin-scroll] turbo in most new chassis'. People have done twin-turbo BMW sixes, and they work fine. Usually a lower hp number with a more linear powerband (which could be achieved just as well with a proper single turbo..).

The 2zj swap kit(all the mounts) only costs about $200. Then you've just got wiring and the driveshaft to modify. Oh, and with the money left over throw a Big mutherfucking turbo on there. All for 2-3 grand.

lol im going to do it im pulling my M50 block this week and sending it to the machine shop im just trying to find out if i should use the M50 block and internals or source another M52 block and use M52 internals ;)

I think by his comment that was not his point. It was the 400's that only came in auto though. But again, its all good.

reliable is what you pay for. Just sayin, I would never boost a motor without spending the money to make the internals bulletproof. Then comes management to bring everything together.

OP just get a nice used Viper SRT-10 for around $600-$800 and slap some twin turbos on it (maybe another $300 if you get all new parts.) Easy 1000hp.

but yes i was planning MSIII IIRC is best for 24v motors no? and im hoping to find another M52 block for cheap but if not ill just use my M50 block.
