Worst accident I came close to was when I was 10 or so. The driver of a semi truck heading the opposite direction of us had a heart attack and passed out at the wheel. He come across the highway directly at the drivers side my dads Audi a4. My dad had the split second to go left or right, he dropped it down a gear and went right. Truck missed our rear quarter by a foot and slammed into a semi directly behind us. The cab on the truck behind us shot straight up into the air like an escape pod and landed down a hill.

3 people died. The two truck drivers and a third person in a car. Shrapnel went right though his windshield and busted his head open.

Don't think I have any pictures, but I was on tv haha.

I fell asleep at the wheel when I was 17 in a 98 explorer. I hit a power pole at about 45-50 mph and the front end wrapped around the pole. The ditch beside the road was very deep, and the explorer tipped over and was on its side in the ditch. Then the pole fell on top (driver's side -- couldn't open the door) of the explorer. I escaped with only minor burns on my face from the airbag. Good thing I was wearing my seatbelt.

so i got into my first accident 5 months after buying my e30. I was driving to class (i was late) and there was traffic on both sides of the street. the light turned yellow and i didn't want to stop and maybe miss my class- so i gunned in through the intersection. the cars in front of me were moving, but because i was coming at them straight it was hard to see how much slower they were going, and out of nowhere a girl in a brand new Benz hits her brakes. so i hit mine also. brakes locked up and i slide into her bumper. everyone was okay, but the e30 suffered.

she was driving a Mercedes Benz SUV. and of course her bumper was much higher than mine. so my cars face took the damage.

ended up paying $1,300 cash to fix her busted bumper. then me and my brother pulled my center support back and beat my fender and hood into normal-ish looking shapes. i got a new radiator, and swapped a fan and the other light over so i could drive for all my other classes that week. haha

yea that money could have went for something nice on my car :( i paid for driving like a douche

-ended up driving around like this for quite a few months

very true. when you start feeling them wearing off you've got about 10minutes and you'll be out.

Oh my driving record is very tainted. I've had tickets.
But.. yeah. The statistical likelihood of not having any accident in the first ten years of having your license is pretty freaking low.

I'm past ten years. But still knocking on wood... again...

^ I don't blame him. I'm sure its a very sensitive topic. I know my family as been very hard on me about a few of the accidents I've been in. So its hard for me to trust people that I talk to about them.

luckily i wasn't the one driving. he feels a lot of guilt about it - still refuses to look at pictures and it's been almost 2 years.

[quote=mkcman17;2778301]the worst accident i've been personally involved in was with my dad. we were trying to make it LA>Austin in one shot in his sonoma. i had driven the full night shift, and was getting some rest while my dad was driving. at around 6:30am he fell asleep deep in new mexico and we took out a guard rail. a lot of it. there was a cross there from someone who had eaten shit on the same gentle turn. if we had spun the other way, we would have gone down a pretty big hill and would have rolled for sure.

that's one of my worst driving fears is getting in an accident with my parents or wife in the car. i'm fine with it just being me in it but i would never forgive myself if they were in it too.

Yeah, because its a recall I think thats why lawyers dont even care.

Holy crap. I didn't know that kind of thing was possible. I will consider myself very lucky.

Hell, With the amount of car accidents I HAVE been in, I already consider myself very lucky.
the worst part is that it happened half a mile from his house.

A guy down the road from where I lived went off the road going only 40ish, hit that same kind of rail and a post shot right through his firewall, through his dash, through his steering wheel, and took half his head off. FUCKED UP
