Ive noticed people who live in warmer climates, the interiors held up better. Im sure minus temperatures doesn't help keep seals and glue working so fresh.

Mine is at 200k now and the interior is great. Headliner is sagging, but the seats and door panels are nice. And mine hasn't ever been taken care of. Baked in Florida until I bought it 5 years ago with 130k. Has never been in the garage because that's where the E30 and bike/kayak/Mini/junk that isn't the E36 belong.

Side note-- new BMW interiors pale in comparison tothe quality of E36's, they are terrible.

I just got a '92 325is(turbo). Amazingly well kept. Cream of the crop kind of deal. Interior is absolutely perfect, sans the drivers side seat wear spots. No sagging headliner, no separating door panels, no rattles, no creeks, nothing that you would expect with an E36. So honestly a lot of it has to do with proper care.

The rule with e36s is that less is more.

    Except with engines.

That's what I said. It was a shitty interior and I'm glad someone else is cursing it now.

i went from a e30 325iX with 200,000 to a e36 m3 with 110,000. within a month, i hated that car and had big time seller's remorse. engine ran great, car was well balanced and handled great, the interior was shit. i could not sell that car fast enough and i pity the poor bastard who bought it. i replaced the m3 with an eta with ~300,000 and i was so happy. no rattles, headliner where it should be, door panels stayed on the door, window regulators worked.

e30 has faults but at least it never feels like i'm in a maxima. e36, not so much.

for those who will say i must have had a shitty e36, here are the pics...it was shitty:

Bwahaha! That is exactly how I feel about my E36 M sitting in the garage, forcing my E30 to be out in the cold and snow.

I hate the damn thing. Cant wait to fix it and sell it.

So we can agree that the e36 interior in the entire history of BMW's interiors was a lowpoint without having to interject some face-saving dig at E30's faults (of which they have their own). In comparison to what came before and what came after. Thats all Im saying. People can point out the many faults of the E30 without it turning into a pissing contest.

Oh i'm not butthurt, I agree with you entirely. Both cars have problem areas and strengths.
