Uh yeah, cuz 225s don't fit until you roll the shit out of the rear wheel arches.

16s are the only way to go in my book. There's a thread here somewhere of pics. When I get the 24v on the road I'm planning to use those, shod with 215\50s or 55s.

You don't get it.
If your overall diameter of wheels/tires is the same then your oilpan is still the same distance off the ground.
The difference he's noticing is because he adjusted his coilovers.

Exactly... So it's not a matter of changing your wheel diameter... it's a matter of you changing your ride height, which could have been done with your old wheels too. It's just that with the new wheels you can have a higher ride height and have the illusion of looking just as "flush" as before because you're keeping a flush wheel gap, even though you have a higher ride height.

225/50/16, I had raise my coilovers from being all the way threaded down to being all the way threaded up to even THINK of getting the tire to clear the fender, thats where most of the ride height was gained.
