I've just always loved the lines of the e39, it and the e30 have been my favorite BMW's in the looks department since before I ever thought about owning a BMW.

I'm right there with you.

Both videos were great and it jus shows another way that BMW is great with their marketing.

I just feel like with the E39 M5, it just looked like a big bubble, too fat and round everywhere. The M5 looked almost no different than the standard car.

That was kind of the point though. The M5 was supposed to be a classy, fast saloon; not a flashy and agressive looking car; a wolf is sheep's clothing. They have always been like that, up until the E60.

And the E28 was the best looking 5 ever. E39 comes in at second. E34 has a weird front end like the E36, when they were transitioning from the classic round headlights in grille style to modern. and they couldn't figure out what to do with the kidney grills in the middle and couldn't find a good place for the blinker lights. Just looks weird to me because it has styling elements of the E30 and E36 like a transition and they don't go well together.

I don't know, the E39 is hard to beat as far as newer bodies go. I will say that the new F chassis cars look much better than the bangle cars, but I'm sure that goes without saying...

Can't beat an E39 M5, still one of the best looking cars today. The new M5 does look amazing, but It looks almost exactly like the F chassis 3 series.
