I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal. Moreso because of the warranty, but the way I'm seeing it you could drive it till the warranty goes out and sell it for probably just about as much as you paid.

If you dont need a large SUV then I would say go for it. My parents have a 3.0 I6 x5 and I love it. No problems except for a window regulator.

Sounds like a great deal! The 3 year/30,000 mile warranty is the way to go. When something goes out they are very expensive to repair.

Other than that greal looking car $$ with gas.

Aren't x3's like super reliable? Not sure if one would be up for much hauling tho.

    Thoughts on the X5?

My wife and I have been talking about getting an SUV for quite some time now. My original plan was to pick up a Range Rover Classic (I've had a few). I started driving just about everything under the sun since my e30 is down and I have quickly grown tired of daily driving the Lotus. Since I'm not sure if or when the e30 will be back up and running I think it's time to pull the trigger.

Yesterday I drove a 2005 X5 6speed V8. Silver on black, panoramic sunroof, generally loaded. 128K on the clock and the dealer is asking $7900 with a 3 year/30,000 mile warranty.

I freaking loved that thing. I didn't plan on spending more than $5K initially since I don't want a payment but like I said, I really loved it.

So, since there are several X5 owners here and many who work for dealerships I would love to hear your input.

The car will be used as the occasional daily driver (when the e30 is down), 6+ hour road trips to visit family up north, towing a jet ski to the lake, hauling the dog around and occasionally picking up stuff for the house, car parts, etc.

    Is this a good call?
