I'd jump on the 4 to 5 lug swap attempts every other new member with access to a machine shop tries to jump on.

Cool idea, would be helpful, and profitable.

Also I was thinking seat adapters, maybe something specific to Vaders? (especially the rear since it's hard to get them to sit right)

The coilover idea would be cool, if you really wanted to make an investment, get a group buy from BC/Megan/etc and fabricate them to be plug and play like GC does. But there's probably not a huge profit margin competing with GC and their reputation.

I vote for the 5 lug hub & I think you can purchase full blank rotors to make your own lug patterns too. :)

How about some e30 aftermarket seat adapters. Something where you can just drill your own spacing for mounting different types of seats.

So jealous, that is my dream to own a shop. Spacers are cheap and eassy, adapters some are harder then others. I would do flanges for common turbos, m20 flanges along with other 24v heads. I would start with that as everything is three dimensional.

first thing im going to make is control arms. how much larger would I want them to be for proper steering angle? Good thing im going to school to be a mechanical engineer in the fall...

well this just made me excited. Im really thinking about making some control arms. Should i simply make them based on the stock specs but with a lighter steel heat treat them? soooo many ideas going through my head. if anyone wants anything made, just give me the specs so i can have it made. I pretty much have no idea what to do. also, what do you mean by tapping the front struts?

I wouldn't make a hardened control arm. Talk to the guy in your shop about heat treating and metallurgy. You could stress relieve them or anneal them after welding to help with uniformity in the crystal structure, but that's all I would do with the heat treating. And as far as size goes, do some engineering to see if you can improve on the stock ones, and also make some longer ones for the drift community. (More steering angle)

I actually have not done any research to see if it was a standard (well, actually metric) or a custom tap that they used. $300 isn't bad for a tap that size, but he could make them in a batch of 10 for probably around $150 cost. And I don't like the idea of just sticking the tap in there, you really should have a guide so that you don't tap crooked.

And if you make hubs, are you going to buy and drill stock 4 lug e30 rotors to fit onto these 5 lug hubs? I would just buy an e30 hub to spec off of, then make a 5x120 pattern on them, then drill e30 rotors to 5 lug pattern.

But then 5 lug offset wheels on 4 lug body/suspension comes into play.

I really like that tapping idea! totally going to make that. I would have to do a whole bunch of research to make those hubs im guessing... anyone wanna throw some pretty specific specs down for anything?
