Your insurance will go up for sure.... 73/74 914 2.0 ltrs were the best of 4 cylinder poorman Porsche's...But stick with the E30... your wallet will thank you for it !

I have a friend who has a turbo 944, he hates it so damn much, parts are crazy expensive and everything is so hard to get to

We have a customer with two 944Ts. An 87 and 88. One will come in for something....then the next week the other will come in for the exact same problem.

I like the looks, kinda like a widebody RX7, but I would rather replace apex seals than do anything on a 944.

OP - I own a 1987 944 - not the turbo mind you. I have found them more complicated that the E30 and they require more in the way of specialty tools. The timing belt tool alone is nearly $600! Fun little car though. If I were to trade my 318is for a 944 - I'd be looking for a 944S turbo model with all the preventatives done and a stack of receipts. Parts are much more expensive than with BMW (in my opinion).

924 was designed and built by Audi, i would avoid ownership if at all possible.

If you want a porsche, save up some more $ and get the one you want.

If you're going to do a 9, go older and do a 914, I know of a cherry one for sale, or a 944 turbo.
