Uh, Mini? Minis are freaking fun. That's why I'd buy one. The FWD BMW will be basically the same.

Corporate BMW, do you want a new direction?
    First, hire me, then
    build an electric iE30.
Take your time and do it better than right.
all carbon fiber, aluminum, and nurburgring tuned, with quick change batteries, and built to last.
They already did this. Wait till you drive an i3. Some are already heralding the car as the return of the e30. Its nimble, fun, low CG, faster 0-40 than an e92 M3. What more do you want?

Full disclaimer: I work for NA and drive an E28 and an F30.

I was just curious as to what everyone thinks about the "NEW" BMW. I mean by eliminating the iconic 3 series coupe and replacing it with what they call the 4. I've also heard word of a front wheel drive model in the future.

I personally feel disappointed, and offended as an old school enthusiast. The E30 stole my heart when I saw it as a little boy, and I've been madly in love with her ever since. I feel like they've abandoned tradition, and are slapping their heritage in the face. But hey, that's just me.

I want to get a good understanding of how the majority of this community of old school enthusiasts feel. You see, my good friends father is a high ranking executive in the BMW family, and I plan on approaching him with my opinion, but I want to be able to present the general feeling of this community to him as well.

I really do appreciate what you all have to say, so please, don't hold back. Tell me how you really feel.

    Cheers,
Meh, I'm not really a BMW enthusiast, I just love the e30's. They make a good car and the ///M division makes some beautiful cars. I am a Jeep guy and they are also transforming(read destroying) the brand. For the jeep community they are alienating us guys who are hardcore jeep nuts who use them for their intended purpose plus some in an effort to get a wider customer base and trying to conform with retarded EPA regulations that are almost unattainable for anyone who makes a truck or SUV. I don't ever see BMW doing away with rear drive cars or the ///M division, just shifting their focus to a broader spectrum of people. But why on God's green earth would anyone buy a fwd BMW?

+1 for IDGAF. I used to be one of those die hard, "Front wheel drive BMW?! Blasphemy!" "Four door six series, WHAT?!" types. Well it is blasphemy, but I just don't care anymore.

BMW still does a lot of cool stuff in addition to the ridiculousness. They also make what their target audience wants, and that's fine. It just doesn't include me; that's fine, too. It really doesn't matter one way or the other.

I don't care too much about the new BMWs, not really my thing. I am glad to see JasonC back in an E30 though!

    Oh one more things
The new 4 series should have been the new 5 series coupe
Likr how they did with the 6 series
    X6, 6series coupe & the 6 series grand coupe
    Hence
X5, GT 5 series, 5 series, and then u people could have made the all new 5 series coupe
    Daaaaa

Not happy with the last 15 years of the product
Not to mention the problem with the 335 535 twin turbo motor
And the accelerator problem that was all over nightline
Shouldn't have to be put on blast to make a recall
    If we fuck up
    We fix it
After all its is a bmw
    Not bm trouble u

    i have a hard-on for the 235i, x6m, and m6 gran coupe. the i3 and i8 are pretty cool.

BMW is still a great auto manufacturer. a lot of the gripes you guys have are trends that all manufacturers are following due to industry-wide safety, performance, and emissions targets.. in the US and internationally.

Interior on none of the newer model r durable
It seems that the paint on the trim panels r the worst they could possibly find
    Headliners don't stand up either
And faulty radios & amps from the 7, 5, 6, services
    R beneath bmw
But than again so is all the problems from the overwhelming oil leaks from the engines too

BMW has always been about "sporty" sedans for the masses...with a small number of hardcore models peppered in. The total number of 2002 Turbos, E30 M3s, Z3 M Coupes, and 1M Coupes pales in comparison to the number of grocery-getter 3ers, 5ers, and SUVs sold.

BMW is not Lotus or pre-1996 Porsche. The hardcore, track-oriented driver was never the main focus.

2 series will replace 1 series. If they're following the slimming trend of their 3-4 series then perhaps it will be more of a real sausage instead of a costco one.

If I could only say one thing or make one request of BMW, it would be to continue supporting the old models with replacement parts so nothing will ever be NLA. Maybe figure out some kind of special order system or more group buy coordination, etc...
That's fucking right! The M235i has a tarbo'd straight six for 326 hp. Ill soon be making the money to get this woohoo!
