N62's have valve stem seal issues

if she has to have a E60 get a 530i

    otherwise e46 or e90 330i

buy the GF a Solara with a BMW badge on it.

It's cheaper and 98% of drivers will think it's a newer 6 series

Ah, the e60 five series... All the headaches and unreliability of a 7er, but none of the perceived status from the unknowing public.

e46 is garbage. get her into an 06 330i e90. fun car, reliable as hell and came in 6spd. can find them all day for around $14k budget.

Yeah, i would steer her towards non-M e46. You can get a great car for well under your max budget and spend the remainder on making it perfect and possibly even a few mods to make it "her's." 14k isn't enough for a well maintained lower mileage M3 and anything else is going to cost a lot in the long run. Honestly the 330i/ci has plenty of power for me, I'd get her to drive one of those and make decisions from there.

From the price budget both cars seem out of her reach.

Guys I'm sorry I meant e60! Sorry! Please tell me what you think of the e60 v8. Thanks. It's either a e60 or e46 m3. I'm a pretty good machanic too.

I have an e90 2008 328i with 80+ thousand miles on it and it's been super reliable. Seems to be the norm for the 328i, of course there are a couple of things that are prone to failure, like the water pumps; but otherwise pretty solid.

Go read around on e90post and you will get a pretty good idea of what to look for in those models.

Under 14k isn't going to get you anywhere near an E90 or E92 unless it is beat to shit. 14k and under is E46 territory. Unless you have deep pockets, get her an E46. Much more reliable and still easy to work on at home. If she doesn't like the E46, she doesn't want the car. She just wants the badge.

    Girlfriend wants a BMW

She is looking for a newer model. She wants a manual. She is looking for one under 14k. She likes the 545i and the 550i e90. I don't know much about the newer bmw. I only know e30. Which ones are reliable and easy to work on? Thanks in advanced.
