I got to watch, and benefit, as the air-cooled 911 market went up. Now I sell restorations that are 500% of what we used to pay for a completed car- and I kinda regret it. I didn't get rich and I priced myself out of the market for cars I now love.

But... there are more wheel choices than ever. There are more restoration parts available now than ever. There’s the ability to build something and get out of it right if you want to change things up. If i play my cards right and increase my profits, I can buy a car and have the most options I’ve had during the 13 years I’ve been playing with Porsche.

I’m building my ‘90 to sell. I’m impatient and have a hard time saving five figures for the car I want so I’d rather build a car I can break even on or sell for that amount while developing relationships with suppliers and used parts guys. I’m depending on the market to be strong so I can buy a tub and enough parts to get my next project rolling.

I sure hope so! About to submit mine in the next few days. Going to miss it, but bringing it to Baltimore would have been an act of cruelty, salt and terrible quality roads... :puppy:

Holy shit. 14k for an 88 iX with 248k miles?! That's about 10k too much IMO. I mean it's clean and well taken care of but that's a lot of money.

After seeing that, I think my buddies going to list his white iX.

That’s insane if it’s a true indicator of the market for them.

Maybe I'll make mine nice, if that's the case.

I think long term ownership, lots of records and still a great looking car came into play with the bidding war that happened with that one. From my perspective, an IX typically will live its life in snow and if it doesnt have rust and passes the jack test then you are off to a great start. Add a clean body and interior and you should be in a good position

Beautiful Z, I'd take a nice clean Z over an E30 M3 any day. Second kind of cool on this one. Doesn't matter that an M3 is a faster car with a better chassis.

Uncle of mine had an early Z back in the late 80’s. After the third time it was stolen (they would just smash the rear hatch window), he sold it.

Oh I thought about continuing but I didn’t think people wanted to hear me bitch anymore.

I guess this would be the opposite of “tasteful” mods.
