I think it sold for what it should have then again I don't drink the 320iS kool-aid. This one was just a base model 4 door and it has a destroked S14 to boot. It's cool that it was made but that's about it. If you're spending close to 20k, mind as well get an M3 IMO of which a couple projects sold for less than 20K on BAT. So there was no reserve? I find it hard to believe the seller would take a loss.

Yeah, I don't get the hype for the 320is unless it's a loaded mtech2 coupe, then it's pretty cool. But a base 4 door? I wouldn't pay a lot for it over a standard base 4 door with an engine swap.

I was willing to go 12K.

But then I also have a full MTech 2 kit ready to go, and a bunch of S14 parts at my disposal. We were more looking at it as a nice, rare E30 version to add to the collection. Not our first/only weekend car.

If it was going to be the only cool E30 you owned, then yeah, you may have been better off to look for an M3. But if you already got an M3, why not?

It's not like it went for Rusty 356 money..

              1987is..

Should be interesting to see where it goes, considering the odometer is broken and it's pretty grimy.

saw that this morning, Im about to add it to the list...

thoughts on the S52 car? Do you guys think it has enough in it to go over 10?

Still has open diff, comfort seats, etc Missing a lot of the goodies to show it was a balanced package.

oh crap! I know this 87 iS. I spoke with the woman who was selling it. It was her husbands car and he recently passed away. I told her I thought it was in the ~4000 range and made an offer in that range and she declined. Shes trying to get double that

The 540i/6 that's up right now is a great deal; with all the work that's been done to that M62 it should be good to go for a long time.

plenty of time for the auction to end and it to no longer be a great deal!

I can't believe people are willing to spend that kind of $ on the 320is. An s14b23 is slow enough (had one in my e30 for 4 years), I just couldn't handle the disappointment of the 2 liter version.

yours was in a touring, this was a base model sedan, but I see what you're saying. Also the power difference between the 2.0 & the 2.3 was minimal
