You can also use Tapatalk, or post through Panjo then edit the thread to delete the panjo specific crap.

It's been discussed before and in other threads, revising and bumping old for sale threads of yours or using Tapatalk.

    agreed

Took something simple and made it a hassle to even list something for sale/WTB.

I mostly agree with this statement - though I have had to educate some perspective buyers about why I don't prefer people to pay me as a "gift" via PP. I won't do it that way when I pay someone, because it doesn't protect the buyer or the seller. I'm willing to eat the transaction fee (it's a bargain compared to eBay's) just for the extra security.

The problems people have mentioned on here are minor. From a UI and code perspective, I have done bigger cleanups/changes in shorter time then it has seemed to take Panjo to address.

Panjo could please a lot of people if they would put some sort of priority on fixing these few issues:

-Make it more intuitive when posting to specific Forum (maybe not the last step and instead move it to the first step.)
-allow cross posting between different Forums.
-allow users to login with a normal login/pw combo.

Hell, just steal the Craigslist user interface for all I care. It may look like a UI circa 2000, but it works and is easier to navigate.

As Agent mentioned though, these are Panjo issues that no mod on here has any control over.

Luckily, worst case scenario, the community has found a way around it - so the reports of the r3v fs section demise are greatly exaggerated. :p

You're 100% right. All of this is moot at the moment. And it will be a while/till James even needs to be bothered with this - I hope he isn't. I can't even imagine going home after a fun dinner to find everything I have gone.

But with that said, I don't hear anyone hear saying "R3v sucks! F- you guys!" it's quite the opposite. It's people saying "I really like r3v, I like this place! I want to stay here and I think the mod need to know this is a real issue that needs to change!" If people didn't care, they would just bounce. That's so not the case here. That's why there are 270 posts on this on thread.

(ignore my complaints about panjo - I have my own issues with their formatting as a seller)

As far as offsetting the cost, I don't think that's happened at all. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if panjo is paying more then 1/2 the cost of running r3v.

The other thing I hear is that Panjo relieves the mod from having to be the middle man on sour transactions. But,doesn't paypal already serve that function? Since they tend to side with the buyer, won't that keep most sellers on the up-and-up?

So what added value is panjo adding that paypal can't provide?

This paragraph needs to be addressed, as it contains misconceptions and misinformation.

First, the R3V mods had precisely zero to do with implementing Panjo. It was a decision made unilaterally by James, who is the owner of this site. It's simply our job to support his decisions and enforce the rules here, whether or not we stand behind them 100%.

Second, how exactly do the users keep the lights on? Other than an occasional donation by a miniscule percentage of the forum's membership base, users actually incur more costs for this place than they contribute by using the software and using bandwidth.

The implementation of Panjo was supposed to help offset those costs, by the marketplace feeding a percentage of all transactions back to the site. I don't know how much it's actually helping though, if at all.

All that said, you're welcome to take this up directly with James, since this is his show. Although I think he has far more important things to worry about right now than folks who are angry about the way he provides free services, so maybe give him a few months.

I just tried to post a Wanted ad for a $20 part and it now involves 18 different steps and basically, just plain sucks.

To the R3V mods - if I only post one thing this year, it's that Panjo is awful and I despise the fact that you allowed this terrible company to corrupt the experience for your users, who - by the way - help keep the lights on here.

As the poster mentioned above, you have effectively taken money out of the enthusiasts' pockets for either yourselves or Panjo, not sure who stands to profit more off of this. But at the end of the day, when Facebook is already stealing activity and pageviews from forums like yours, investing in a solution that drives users away is one of the dumbest decisions you could have made.

I might add: if I do find something through this abortion of a classifieds system, I just email the user and ask if they'll conduct the transaction offsite. Everyone has said yes so far, because everyone knows how cumbersome it is.

    Have a lovely day.

Totally miss the thriving FS section. Panjo is shit, $115 part, I had to pay $120 for it, seller got $103 for it.

Useless, R3V needs to dump that crap, I've noticed the entire R3V community has quieted down lately, probably due to this.

Post an ad, and then populate it with all sorts of pictures and links that panjo doesn't offer. Then have panjo dip into your post and delete all your work and your paypal link(s). Call them on it and you'll get this...

(paraphrased - not what they actually said, but close to it) "It's just how we do things, sorry about that. Did we say sorry? Our bad...we meant you can't do anything about it, and you'll learn to like it like that! Did we mention we support r3v by almost not even covering the running cost of the site? Oh, well don't tell anyone that, as we want people to think we contribute to the site and pay the bills - yet we don't even come close to it! Shhhhh Don't tell anyone one that!"
