    For sales purposes.

If you noticed the Mercedes 190-2.3 16V were four door yet we got the watered down non homlogation version.

Maybe due to this is the car BMW wanted to mae their flagship at the time who knows.

From a practical point of view, the 2 doors have wider doors, and are probably easier to climb in and out of. I only use mine to race so I would rip out the rear seat if the current class I run let me, but it doesn't. When I go somewhere with more than two people in the car, I have a 740iL I can take.

The irony is that in the last 3 months I haven't used the rear seat of the 740iL once, but I've had numerous people in the rear of the E30. I have several young car nuts who hang out at my shop and they like to bring their buddies over for a ride in the E30. Nobody ever asks for a ride in the 740iL. Also, whenever I go racing, the E30 ends up being more practical to go to lunch in than a pickup pulling a 28 foot enclosed trailer.

I always thought the two doors looked a little unbalanced with the size of the rear windows. It looks like there should be a door there. This coming from the owner of a coupe.

Do you think before you post? e30 m3 is completely different bodystyle. e36 m3's were the same so they could build a 4 door. Same with e46's, different body=no 4 door.

4 door e30's are less common, hence rarity. They are more rigid, and they have a little more funcion than form. To some people that makes them hot.

    Sorry, I work 60 - 80 hours a week, have two kids, a house, a wife....

No time for track....barely time for the occasional driving school refresher course.

I cannot imagine tracking a $50K car. Insurance Co. would laugh long and loud if it got bent.

    M5 tires cost a bloody fortune.

Safety? I'd feel safer riding in an old 2002 with a well-trained and non-distracted driver than with the average Joe in his new M5.

I'm willing to forgo new, quiet, and high tech for simplicity and directness.

    2 or 4 doors? There's a reason they make both....:D

I like my 2 doors thank you very much. Although, that red euro bump with the Ronals looked mighty nice.

What's the point of having the fastest horse in the land when there's no place to let it run?

Guy next door has a '91 318is. And two 6 month old twins. At that age the kid seats must face rearward. He finds it nearly impossible to manuver the kid strapped in its seat past the front seat onto the base plate. He has been begging me to swap cars with him, and while it's very tempting, I have a 5 and 7 yo. They like having windows they can roll down. My wife likes not having to get out of the car whenever we drop 'em of at friends, grandma's, etc.

If I had no kids, I'd have an E30 M3. I have the bread to buy new, but since I like to fix my own, and prefer the simplicity of the E30, that's what I'm staying with. You couldn't pay me to own a 500HP M5. What's the point of having the fastest horse in the land when there's no place to let it run? And the electronic complexity is nothing more than an annuity for the dealer mechanics! No, e30 handling is far more entertaining on a daily basis....

I suppose if I ran across the right 4 door E36 M3, I could be persuaded away from the e30, but.....it would have to be an outstanding example. They really cheaped out on interior build quality on the e36...

oh yeah, I do live in adultville.... kthx. I don't need four doors to look "responsible", and my insurance is $100 for six months 100/300/100, so go somewhere else to try and browbeat some "kid" or "noob" with your "adultville" crap, k?

I was kidding about the whole "for losers" thing, it just happened to work with the other "four" there, but if you guys are so damn defensive, you must have some kind of hangup.

on topic: I just happen to like the 2 doors, in a 4 door E30, I would still have to move my seat to put someone in the back. I can see where it might be advantageous in some instances, but I'm glad that mine is a 2 door.
To finish: The only 4 door E30 I would EVER buy would be a touring/wagon. Those are the sex.
Get over yourself.....sounds like you are the defensive guy with the hangup. kthx......k?......mmmk? :D
