Z4 ///M Coupe

I just missed a deal on a white 85 911 for $7k. No shit, and it was in great shape. I drove a 944 as my DD for a while, so I do have a dog in this fight.

I'll compare it this way:

Driving the Porsche 944 was like hardcore unprotected sex with a long series of hot strangers....REALLY FUN, but you always had to worry about something before, during, and after.

Likewise driving the e30 was like going home to Mama. You had a pretty realistic expectation of what you were getting yourself into, and it wasn't all that bad.

care to back that up? Im not disagreeing, I just like to hear supporting arguments to such absolute claims. Its also easy to build a better car when youve been building the same design concept over and over for over half a century.

Cayman S is one hell of a car too, plus Porsche knows a thing or two about making a car handle...after all look at their line up.. Not giving shit to BMW but, I would say Porsche is more serious about their "sporty" character than bmw... sure i'll get flamed for this lol.

These brands have different mission statements. Porsche has always been much more uncompromisingly performance oriented. BMW has done a balance of performance, and practicality. Neither is right or wrong, just for different purposes.

The Cayman is pure bullshit tho. I'm sorry, but for a company already making the poor man's 911, now they offer the I'm-not-as-poor-as-a-boxster-owner-but-I-still-cant-afford-a-911 car.

And it's not like something great came out of the project.... it's just a car that falls perfectly in between the Boxster and the 911... which means Porsche held back. And I wouldn't want to buy a product that the company admits they held back on.

As for comparing it with the Z4 ///M, if they tested the Cayman against the roadster, I'm sure the coupe would make it even.

i love the ///M Coupe!

though in Motortrend they compared it to the Porsche Cayman S, and they said the Porsche was marginally better. i disagree. but i havent driven either one of them.

It is si, not is. I'm almost certain as well that the rack is a different unit. Was merely agreeing in conjunction with mikeedler on how even the non "M" Z4 is impressive.

The 6er is hideous, but the ///M is tolerable. The Z4 ///M is the sexiest thing out there. The title page of Automobile a few months ago when it came out says it all. I think it was somehting like "Sexiest Car Ever"

Agreed. The Z4 M Coupe and the M6 are the 2 best looking new cars out there.

+1 on this statement. I just personally spent the past 24 hours with an uncle's 3.0si Z4 roadster. That car TOTALLY took me off guard and for surprise. I figured that the performance would be similar, engine wise, to my E46 330i, long story short, it almost feels like a different animal. It was very nice to say the least, and although I traditionally do not prefer auto's, the auto with the combonation of behind the steering wheel paddle shifters was quite fun.
