In Europe, most coupe 325 are only "I" cars.
The IS came out with the E36 body style.
My buddy had a factory 325I with a MtechI kit, and sport suspension on an E30 coupe, it wasn't an IS.

-I would argue with us anymore. I own a 2-door 325i (non-sport). It DOES have an added 'is spoiler and LSD, but a non-sport interior and 6-button OBC.

-As for the e36, you are correct.

So what exactly are the differences between a 325e and 325i? Why do some models have an “s”, like a 318is, 325es, and 325is? Is the ’84-’85 318i the same as the ’91 31…

WRONG. How about the non s options on coupes? Mine had no spoiler, an i lip, 6 button obc, non sport vinyl 2 door interior (cant be swapped from a 4 door) and no mtech wheel. NOT an is.

Yes, an 'is is always a coupe, but an i is not always a sedan. Many Many 325i cars are coupes. I've talked to the original owner on one I was looking at buying, defiantly not a re badge.

    Doesn't really apply to the e as much...the 84 325e was a 2 door. Sedan wasn't available in 84.
