yah I'd definitely never tint my windshield
I was gonna do 50% up front and 30% or 20% in back, but after getting a cellphone ticket sunday and having the cop look for anything else he could ticket me for, I'm really leaning toward a legalish 50% all aroundLeave a comment:

Don't know why you'd tint your windsheild. Granted, it'd be kind of mnice - but 50% is pretty noticeable....Leave a comment:

I had 20% on my E36 and loved it. The legal limit in MN is 50% but i think that with my dove interior it wasn't as noticeably dark from the outside so i never got hassled. I think on my E30 i will go with 20% again. I originally had 50% on my E36 when i bought it and i had it replaced with 20%. I was glad i did as 50% isn't all that noticeable.Leave a comment:

Not legal in Texas, but I talked with the tinter and for an additional $70, he put a 50 one piece on the front windshield. You cannot tell it is there. Makes a lot of difference on heat, etc and gives UV protection! I love it!! Also have 30 all around. The only thing you have to be careful is the state inspection stickers here in TX. I remove them myself before going to station and then you dont have some moron scraping it with razor and destroying tint. I have had one cop ask about the windshield, and I said that it was factory UV protection from BMW. He still gave me speeding ticket, but I've had the windshield done for almost 7 years now. Anyway, I still know the tinter at the shop and will probably have the car redone next month. The old tint is looking a little "old". I'll post some pics later this week of it.Leave a comment:

You probably wouldnt be able to tell it was there....
The percentage is the amout of light it lets through. 0% is a clear window... 100% you cant see through it at all. Limos use 5%(very dark).Leave a comment:

Is it legal for tint shops to tint your windshield with something like 90 or 95%. It would probably help save your dash. Wonder how it would be at night though.Leave a comment:

OHHH YAAAA - blocks 99% of UV rays (this you get even with 90% tint which is barely noticeable)
However, to limit heat from building up in your car, the darker the tint, the more heat it will stop. First hand - my car would be parked outside all day in 105 F temps before tint - even with a sunsheild, it was god damn hot.
After tint, it was still damn hot - but I swear it was 5-7 F COOLER in the car than before, if not more. Very very big difference.
Eventually I'll go darker..Leave a comment:

i have 35% all around and i really like it.
At first I was anti tint but once you get it its hard to imagine the car with out it. Getting tint is like a boob job... once its over and done with you are always gonna want a lil bit bigger/darker than you originally thought. I would err on the dark side.Leave a comment:

Almost positive - because that's the legal limit on the front windows in Idaho - and I wanted the tint the same all around.
I wish I would have gone darker, and did something like my brothers - but the tint serves it's purpose of protecting my interior and cutting down on summers heating my car into an oven. With no AC, it was crucial to have good tint - and it made my car driveable in Palm Springs, CA over the summer! LOL
30% is darker - it's the amount of light the tint lets thru. So, 75% is lighter than 50, 5% is limo tint. Actually, come to think of it, my brother has 20%. He's H&Re30 on here is anyone wants to PM him.Leave a comment:
