Just curious, do you consider anyone who drives a japanese car a ricer?

If that's really true, then what is this?

correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like a street-driven e30 that runs low 9s.

Luke, you are a wise man. I think you summed up this bullshit thread quite nicely.

That's a pretty big power:weight ratio advantage. I beleive that the real reason I won is that my car has taller gearing...that's the only way I can explain the e30 feeling faster by the seat of the pants, yet my car winning in a 2nd-3rd gear roll-race. And as for you saying a "turbocharged 2.0L I-4 doesn't have the kind of power a TT V6 would have"....I've seen Evos and 240s that make quite a bit of power on 2.0L I-4s. Shit, when the e30 I mentioned gets a race-fuel tune, it should make around 400rwhp.
Oh my gosh, seriously. That's so cool. Show me a turbo'd M42 that makes 400 rwhp. I wish I had a race-fuel tune and a couple of bottles of naus.

But he completely understands how difficult it is to get an E30 over 150mph... that's why he had to start running afterburners+nawz. Those vr4's... they just take so long and pull so weak in the triple digits, they can't even touch a flying brick!

    P.S.
fidhle, you really do crack me up calling "magazine racing" on me quoting top speed on my car, just because it's coming from a guy who claims he can beat said car on a highway pull, based off of horse power per litre.... seriously, you are a funny motherfucker. Is this how you look blowing away vr4's down the highway in your e30 fidhle?
Found a Mitsubishi board yet? I'm the first one to admit that a 3000GT would have taken me off the line in my cars old configuration, and maybe even now too, thanks to it's AWD system. You have obviously never driven an E30 other than your shitty ETA and lack a lot of basic BMW knowledge. That first video is interesting, that's pretty much how long it takes my car to climb in 5th but I've never had it over 140 because I live in reality where speeds like that aren't safe. It was quicker than that with the short diff I had for awhile but the high RPMs were annoying on the highway so I went with a longer ratio.

it was a roll race...30-80...or ninety, I was really more focused on the road than on my speedo.

A turbocharged 2.0L I-4 likely doesn't have the kind of power that a twin-turbo V6 (that easily makes ~250 rwhp, dwarfing your "200+ rwhp" figure,) would have.
I assure you, my story is not fictitious. I put a full length on him the first run (I had the jump), and just over half a length on him the second run (he had the jump). The reason I'm posting it is because it is one of the most epic races I've ever had. Seriously, the fact that you think "streamlined aerodynamics" make a difference in a 30-80mph race amuses me very much. Maybe if we raced a 50-120 roll, my aerodynamics would have given me an advantage. I'm going to get an E30 when I sell my civic next year, and I do like e30s very much. Thought I'd start by clearing up that big mystery for you. I joined this forum because I want to learn more about E30s, and because I have a couple of friends who are members. I'm also a stupid person, so my sig fits me well. The reason I posted this is because I was genuinely astonished by the outcome. The afforementioned E30 feels faster than my car (seat-of-the-pants feeling), weighs almost 800lbs less than my car, and has (I'm assuming from what I've seen and been told) tens of thousands of dollars invested into the engine and drivetrain. I lined up against him a couple of times from a 30 punch just (shutting down somewhere between 80 & 90) for shits and giggles, expecting I would lose by at least 2 lengths.
