What made you want an E30????

I was going to look @ an early '90's 240sx and saw my 325is sitting on ramps @ a car dealer. The way the light hit it, it looked likea beam of light from heaven;). When I pulled in my driveway my mom said "that looks like my '81 accord". My dad also drove a '78 320i when I was little, so maybe there was a round headlight path that I had to follow. I've had it close to 8 years and I still love it!

I had an e36 and my buddy wanted a bmw, but couldn't afford anything fancy, so we looked for one and my uncle found one in some guys gravel yard so my buddy bought it and was trying to fix it up in my garage, but he ran out of money and i bought it off him. Next thing i know, i'm a member off a bunch of different e30 forums and spending a shit ton of money on it lol

My older brother had a 320 in his junior year. He eventually got rid of it and got an E36, which was in a lot better shape. I was 16 at this point and decided i needed to get "an older boxy BMW." A few years later somebody totaled my DD, and I had some money to spend. I went on the hunt, and found an E30 vert about 100 miles away. I called the place, they said they still had it. With cash in hand my brother drove me down, only to find they had sold it an hour ago. Devastated, I looked around the lot and found a 97 Audi A4, bought it and was content, but inside still a little sad. About a year later my GF totaled the Audi and i was on another hunt. My friend Andy would occasionally get gas at this Exxon I used to work at in his Alpine E30 on 17" Alpinas. I would always ask him one to find me one, and one day he did. It was an 5 speed, Diamantschwarz 89iX coupe (or 2 door sedan) for $3500. I went there with 3000 dollars later that day and it was mine. This was on April Fools day 2007, and it is still mine.

I wanted one since i first saw one in Germany about 12 years ago. The more i got into learning and owning Bmw's, the more i wanted an e30.

Today, this car is my dd, weekender, canyon car and only car.

I used to have a 240sx. I got in my dad's friends 87 325is, and I wanted to throw my 240 in the trash. The power was so smooth, and the transmission shifter wasnt bouncing all over the place when on the freeway.

My mom had an AW 90 325i when I was young and I really liked it. When I was searching for my first car in high school I saw a nicely modded e30 drive by one day and started searching for one - I didn't realize that they were so affordable until I started looking at them...the rest is history. Was originally looking for an Mk2 Jetta or GTI, but glad I never went down that path!

Edit - I was into E28s before E30s, but what got me into that was my buddy in high school had (actually still has) a 1984 Hartge H5S.

My brother wanted to buy my car at the time, a 97 Monte Carlo, so I needed to find a new ride. I was specifically looking for a convertible, and test drove a Miata and a Fiat Spyder before the BMW, and was really leaning toward the Fiat, but the reliability of the BMW reputation swayed me, thank goodness.
